Soraya, you are a model, actress, film director, and so much more. On your journey of self-improvement and advancement, is there a source of energy and inspiration?

I don’t think I wake up every day and think, how can I be better? This journey you talk about is life, and you only get one try at it. What we learn, when we truly master it becomes innate. It’s a part of you. You don’t think about it. As for my source of energy, it is to be alone. The energy I have within is unremitted; I just need to be with myself and hear my thoughts every so often.

When and how did you realize that your future was in film and what do you like most about this path so far?

I always loved films, I think the love for it has been there longer than the opportunities have. When they weren’t there, and I became wiser, I learned to make my own. One of that opportunities created was the docu-film I produced and directed, Making it Against All Odds. It was my first time, and I learned everything by researching every step of making a film, and it paid off, it received some nominations and several awards. It’s now on Apple TV, and I’m currently working on the second episode.

In your broad and varied career as a model, actress, and film director, which of your achievements are you most proud of?

What I’m most proud of is that I didn’t let any of it change my core values. We can easily get lost in that world.

In our society, in which we only talk about growth and success, the true costs of sacrifices for success are rarely mentioned. Your success is also based on hard work and discipline. What has influenced and shaped you the most so far?

Everything takes hard work and discipline and mostly consistency in whatever we ourselves consider success. The work it takes is also what I enjoy- the in-between, not necessarily just the end result. I’ve always said this: success is a subjective concept, but once you can align your thoughts with what you say and what you do, that’s when your success is reached.

We will see you soon on screen for the movie The Lost Princess. In the role of the princess in the film, your character is pregnant, and today you really are. Would you say life imitates art?

Life imitates art, or art imitates life? This makes me smile. I’ve been thinking about it a lot since. Life is intrinsically beautiful; it is the hero of aesthetics. We give it sense, richness and beauty.

Art is the most beautiful lie; it gives us sense, richness and beauty, but if life imitates art, then what would become of the artist? This is when I will need more time with myself to think.

The Lost Princess will be out this year, and I’m very excited about this film. It was shot in Morocco, my home country, and now, a year later, being back here 8 months pregnant and about to give life, I feel like the art and the artist.
