12 Questions to Cover Girl Julia Kuczyńska
The cover of the L’Officiel Cyprus Fall/Winter issue was graced by the famous model, actress and fashion blogger from Poland, Julia Kuczyńska. In an exclusive interview for L'Officiel Cyprus, Julia shared with us what is most important in her personal and professional life.
Julia, you have been shooting many on television, in magazines, and brand books. What is the value of shooting for L'Officiel Cyprus for you?
First of all, this is an extraordinary moment for me. This is the first time in my life abroad to cover a photo shoot for a foreign magazine. This is not an everyday situation; for me, it is a great honour.
What surprises you in Cyprus?
The atmosphere, the people, the architecture. I was in Cyprus for a short time and needed an opportunity to explore this place fully. But I will return there.
Do you have any favourite places, foods or attractions here?
I will answer this question when I revisit Cyprus.
Moving, meeting and working with new people, and long preparations for photo or video shoots require energy and emotions. So how do you restore strength, and what motivates you to always be in good shape?
What motivates me? I enjoy challenges, adrenaline, and novelty, and I love my job. It is wonderful to have an opportunity to realize myself in new fields, meet new interesting people and create something special with them.
You are one of the top fashion bloggers in Poland. However, popularity is the responsibility of the audience. Is popularity a freedom or a constraint because you must live up to the audience's expectations?
I'm not living my life to live up to the expectations of others. No one will live my life for me. Of course, there are some moments when I feel a little pressure from expectations. However, this is mainly dictated by my ambitions and the fact that I am a control freak. Popularity in itself is ok, as everything in life has its advantages and a lot of disadvantages. If a person in the age of social media does not leave some swathe of his life just for himself, it is hard to keep the balance. The refuge and sphere of life I protect from the media is my immediate family, my home.
What are your essential wardrobe items?
Without a doubt, jackets. On the other hand, since I'm a mom, many comfortable, everyday items have arrived in my closet, i.e., tracksuits.
Which trends of this autumn-winter season do you like the most?
I like returning pants or skirts with a lowered top. I've been missing it for the last few years. I know that not everyone is a fan of this cut. I think there is something for everyone in fashion.
Who is a fashion icon for you? Why?
It's hard for me to answer this question. There are some people whose style I admire. This admiration changes over the years, and the inspiration evolves. I certainly like the private, everyday style of Kate Moss. She can undoubtedly be called an icon. I appreciate the style of Pernille Teisbaek, Jeanette Madsen, Gilda Ambrosio and some others I could give. The Internet is full of fashion-inspiring figures.
You have experience in creating your clothing brand. What was the primary motive for its creation?
I love fashion, and passion, wanting to create timeless and universal clothes according to my taste and style.
What is the priority in your life right now?
Stabilizing private affairs. Professionally, everything is going as it should.
Please name five beauty products every fashionista should have in her makeup bag...
Invariably, a good foundation does not give the skin a mask effect for years. I recommend a highlighter with blush by Natasha Denon, a pencil and mascara from my collection of Makeup Revolution brand and, for example, Augustinus Bader cream.
