She is there to kick off the sporting event, an emblem of the burning fire that keeps human intention and courage alive. The torch is the means of transport of the Olympic Flame in the relay that takes it from the place of ignition, which took place in Greece in Olympia on 16 April in front of the Temple of Zeus, which then continued by sea on board the vessel Belem from Athens to Marseille , through France, up to the place where the Olympics are celebrated, that is, Paris. The opening ceremony of the Games opens on 26 July and concludes on 11 August. Another torch relay is planned for the Paralympic Games relay: from 25 to 28 August 2024, opening day on the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

The Olympic Flame will travel through Paris following an itinerary dotted with historical, cultural and emblematic sites of each arrondissement, honoring sites as diverse as the Bataclan, the Bastille, the Assemblée Nationale, Place de la Concorde, Place des Vosges, Goutte d'Or, Belleville and Doors of the Chapelle. The big news of the 2024 Olympic Games concerns the entry of a new discipline: breaking. Place de la Concorde will be the first venue in history to host all urban disciplines under the name of Urban Park with spaces and fields for freestyle BMX ( acrobatic derivation of BMX races), skateboarding and 3x3 basketball. And for breaking, for all fans of the genre , a one-of-a-kind skatepark, Cycloïde Place, has been set up in front of the Center Pompidou. An interactive work designed by the French artist Raphaël Zarka inspired by the name of the "cycloid" curve considered the fastest in the world and introduced for the first time in a skateboard infrastructure. Open to amateur and professional skateboarders to discover how to slide along its colorful curves.

For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, amateur athletes can experience the same course as the Olympic Marathon . Like the Olympic Games, the Marathon Pour Tous on August 10 is an equal event and Paris aims to give women the same number of bibs as men. It starts from the Hôtel de Ville, one of the main Olympic venues, and ends at the Esplanade des Invalides. Two routes: one of 42.195 km and one of 10.

And again, there are free athletics tracks all over Paris. At the Forum des Halles, for example, there is an 8-lane road 200 meters long. The others are all marked at Parc de Choisy.

Each day , medal-winning French athletes will be celebrated by fans and colleagues before the Grande Halle is transformed into a space for celebration.

Which museums to visit in Paris during the Olympic Games

The Musée du Louvre enters the spirit of the Olympic Games with a new sports exhibition. " Culture at the Games " is in fact an exhibition project that aims to be a hymn to diversity, inclusion and culture through the evolution of this ceremony over the decades.

Finally, the Goldshteyn-Saatort gallery with its latest exhibition entitled " Gaîtés Olympiques - Citius, Altius, Fortius" puts urban art in dialogue with the Olympic spirit through the works of ten international artists with very interesting expressive aspects. Swimming in Paris during the 2024 Olympic Games? Oh, hey!

Paris Plages is not a new format, it has existed for 23 years, created to offer Parisians and others a moment of relief from the city's summer heat: on the occasion of the Olympics the 2024 edition expands beyond its traditional venues at the Bassin de la Villette and on the banks of the Seine. The Canal Saint-Martin, nicknamed the new "Parisian Croisette" in the 10th arrondissement, hosts summer celebrations with a unique opportunity to swim and relax on both banks near Place Jacques Villemin.

If the Bassin de la Villette is dedicated to young people and families, the Canal Saint-Martin offers a swimming area and water activities (from 6 July), the Rives de Seine park (from 6 August) adds a variety of cultural events prolonging the opening ceremony experience. Worth noting: July 14th when the Torch will pass along the Quai de Jemmapes and July 26th, on the opening day, when the Torch crosses the Bassin de la Villette and the Canal Saint-Martin before reappearing on the Seine for the final inauguration .

Paris relaxation: addresses to relax after sport

Appointment with Onitsuka Tiger on the Champs-Élysées from 22 July to 17 August to celebrate the 75th anniversary (also in Tokyo at the same time from 9 to 25 August). For the occasion, a special location will be inaugurated, the Hotel Onitsuka Tiger, in a historic building dating back to the 18th century not normally accessible to the public. Inside there is a rich program of activities to entertain yourself with: from culinary experiences, to fashion, to hospitality, to travel, to music and artistic events with pianists, chefs, performers and artists from all over the world. It's okay to do activities, run, walk and jump with skateboards and BMX. In the whirlwind of the Olympic Games it is also necessary to indulge in what athletes call the recovery phase. For this reason we have selected three hot spots where you can take refuge and regenerate. At the Hotel de Crillon , in Place de la Concorde, at chef Paul Pairet's Nonos and Comestibles restaurant, go for a moment of peace. The hotel's pastry chef, chef Matthieu Carlin, has his frozen biscuits ready to take away and enjoy on the terrace overlooking the Place de la Concorde. At the Hotel Lancaster , near the Champs Elysées, it is the right address to enjoy a quiet patio where you can enjoy lunch surrounded by the statues of the artist Christophe Charbonnel. The hotel also organizes the "Vinyle Party" every Thursday evening to enjoy the evening with a mix of vintage DJs, with cocktails created by Copper Bay and Mediterranean tapas. Finally in Versailles, near the Olympic area, the Waldorf Astoria Versailles - Trianon Palace offers a relaxing escape with its "Jardin du Trianon" terrace for lunches and dinners, but also with its Guerlain Spa accessible for a day.
