L'Officiel Arabia: What are your favourite parts about your job?
Georgina Rodríguez: What I like most about my job is that I see no end, no ceiling, no learning limit, there is always more to do and more to learn, and further to go. It’s like life itself. I always surround myself with very experienced professionals and think “how much do I have to learn from these people...”. This thought is what encourages me to absorb something new every day. The desire to improve is what gives me the energy and motivation do at what I do. And above all it helps me evolve and be a better person.
Another satisfying part of my job that I really enjoy is discovering the wonderful, talented people along the way.
LOA: What can fans expect to see on your channel in the next months?
GR: I always show myself as I am on Instagram. As @georginagio I publish both personal and family photos as well as videos of my ads and projects, fashion photos, editorial photos, my training ... But for the next few months I am preparing a very special and personal project ... I really want to be able to talk about it, present it and develop it. I still can’t talk about it, because an idea is beginning to consolidate and materialize, but very soon you will know what I have been working on for so many months. A lot of time, hardwork and enthusiasm have gone into this project. A project done slowly but steadily and with a lot of love.
LOA: What is something that people outside of your industry don’t know about your work?
There is a lot to organize in my work and in my daily tasks. I have to coordinate many things; brands, fashion publishers, choosing photographers, make-up artists, hairdressers, clothes, accessories, jewelry, checking that everything is ready, organizing schedules, analyzing the advertising jobs they offer me, taking care to organize the agenda of the people who work in our house, so everything can flow and most importantly, take care of our children. It is also very important to keep a fresh mind to create quality content. And also essential, is having a good team to help you. I am well surrounded, I have learnt how to choose effectively the people who work with me. You have to delegate to people you trust so that everything works perfectly.
LOA: What advice do you wish you had been given when you started out in the industry?
GR: I have never really needed any advice. And what I receive, I take in a positive waya s I appreciate everything that can make you grow, I am grateful for everything that other more experienced people transmit to me. But I am always guided by my heart and by common sense. Mistakes are human and it is natural to be wrong. So if something doesn’t go according to plan I try to learn from it so it doesn’t happen again and I always get the positive side out of it. It's all a matter of perspective. I always try to look with positively towards everything that happens to me, although it is not always, equal in return, obviously. Life is like this; it can blow hot and cold.
I am a reserved and shy person. But I am also very happy and I give my heart to those who show me that they deserve my trust and friendship.
With my work I am very professional and we can all be friends but I do not like when certain professional limits are crossed. For example, I like that people are punctual and that work is done on time. There is always time to chat once the work is done.
I also learn every day. I am demanding with others but I am more demanding with myself.
LOA: Did you encounter any negativity in the industry when you first started out?
GR: Sometimes, I feel that people who have come across me, treat me with prejudices but when they know me they say, “I love how you are, you are a normal woman, mother of your children, worried about them like any mother, with varied tastes, you are very hard-working, simple and humble ”. People see you on a social network, they follow you because you are a celebrity, they see you wearing a watch or a luxury handbag and they get wrong or incomplete ideas. A person is not what they possess. That is why you always have to remember that Instagram is not real life. Instagram brings us closer, we can make ourselves known but it is not until you spend a day with a person, until you talk to them, that you can judge. One thing is what we imagine, and quite another, is reality. I feel a great responsibility to have so many millions of followers on social networks. I always show myself as I am, but you can’t have the full picture of somebody by seeing a photo and reading a mini text. That is important for me, to keep in mind that we know parts of that person, but not that person as someone who has a friend and can really say: I know him. For this reason, I like to show myself doing sports, without makeup, with my children because if I only published the most beautiful photos from my fashion magazine editorials, I would be very irresponsible as an influential person. I have more than 20 million followers on Instagram, most of them are young people. We must show ourselves in all our facets to transmit REALITY to the youngest.
Another thing that comes with fame and success is envy ... Many people dislike that you are not rich from birth, they believe that only those who are successful and rich from birth can deserve respect and admiration. However, I love seeing those people who have managed to build something and grow in every way from scratch. I try to learn from people who excel.
The best thing is to only focus on the positive side. I am a happy woman, mother of the most special and loving children in the world, I work because I like to feel fulfilled and I dedicate time to helping others since it is what makes me feel the greatest happiness. Focusing on things less positive is not my problem, but others problem.
LOA: You work out a lot, tell us about your work out routine.
GR: I do cardio, I dance, I work my muscles with weights, I walk with my children ... Just taking care of four children is enough activity for every woman! But I also like to exercise as I show on my Instagram profile. It is about finding a balance between mental, physical and spiritual health. It is important to be good with oneself, with what surrounds us, be happy, grateful and make others happy. I eat healthy but I am not obsessed with it, I indulge in a sweet treat from time to time, and if I have a more recurring craving I enjoy an ounce of dark chocolate which I love and it is a great antioxidant. I also drink enough water to stay well hydrated. And very very important: you have to sleep between 7 and 8 hours a day. This is my routine to stay healthy.
LOA: What are your future projects?
GR: My favorite projects are always those related to fashion, dance and acting. They are my great passion. As I was saying, I have a project in full development, it is a very personal project. I can tell you that it is a project within the fashion industry. It is a very difficult time to undertake due to the coronavirus, but when you do a project with so much love and affection, it has to reach people. I have been thinking about it for a year and it is already materializing. In life you have to do what comes from your heart. And my heart asks me to capture a part of myself in this very special project. I really want to share it with you and that we all can enjoy it.
