Power of Women: CHANEL Métiers d’art 2020/21 collection

Since 2002, traditionally at the beginning of December, CHANEL has been showing the much anticipated pre-fall collection Metiers D'Art. Despite the situation in the world, the fashion house has not changed its traditions this year either.

CHANEL Metiers D'Art collections are a symbiosis of fashion and art, ready-to-wear and haute couture. They are created by the fashion house together with unique masters of centuries-old ateliers.

These are the Desrues jewelers, the Lemarié feather and flower masters, the Maison Michel milliners and hatters, the Lesage and Montex embroiderers, the Massaro fashion shoe tailors, the Goossens atelier jewelers, the Causse Gantier glove makers and the Lognon pleat makers in France.

Métiers d'Art is French for “master of art”.

The show of the Metiers D'Art collection, led by Virginie Viard, Creative Director of CHANEL, took place this year in the Loire Valley at Château de Chenonceau. Also known as "Le Château des Dames", Ladies' Castle. Only one guest could enjoy the truly wonderful action with his own eyes. The brand's muse is Kristen Stewart.

The place of the show is very significant. The name is not accidental. Six women lived in it at different times, who left a noticeable mark in the history of France. These are Catherine Brisonne, Diane de Poitiers, Catherine de Medici, Louise of Lorraine, Gabrielle d'Estre and Louise Dupin.

Catherine built the castle, and Diana and Catherine made a significant contribution, complementing it with an incredible arched bridge, inside which there is a gallery that amazes with its magnificence and attracts tourists from all over the world to visit this place. The landscaped parks that extend from the castle are inferior in scale only to Versailles.

Interesting fact: it is hard not to notice the striking similarity between the monogram of Catherine de 'Medici in the form of interlacing of two letters C and the Chanel logo, which appeared on CHANEL N ° 5 perfume in 1921.

The CHANEL Metiers D'Art collection is dominated by black, which was passionately loved by both Catherine de Medici and Gabrielle Chanel.

Rock romanticism, expressed in a velvet black dress with gold medallions in trompe-l'oeil style, a constellation of gems complementing the sophisticated ankle-length dress, and a sheer graceful dress accentuated by a spectacular hat from Maison Michel.
