Great start

In the 18th century, during the Rococo style, pink became one of the main shades in the culture, fashion, and life of the nobility, whose daily life was filled with expensive pleasures. Hot pink hats, silk and velvet dresses draped with lace and adorned with pearls, and shoes with small heels, embroidered with gold and silver threads, which can rightfully be considered a work of art.

Filmmaker and screenwriter Sofia Coppola in her film "Marie Antoinette" managed to convey the atmosphere of the time and how much this color meant to the people of the luxurious century.

Boys color

Note that a couple of centuries ago all over the world it was believed that pink is the color of boys. The thing is that pink is a diluted red, the color of blood, war, and power, but a slightly more delicate shade. It turned out that the boy in pink symbolized youth. Pink became the traditional color of girls much later - after the Second World War.

First lady in pink

The wife of the President of America Dwight D. Eisenhower Mamie was very fond of all shades of pink. She wore soft powder dresses and suits. Even the interior of the White House was decorated in pink colors. It was Mamie who popularized pink since its first inauguration, becoming a role model for the entire nation.

Honored "girly" color

After World War II, women wanted to change their dark clothes for something unusual and bright, completely opposite to the gray, dirt, and horrors of the past. At this turning point, Christian Dior offered them dresses from the New Look collection in a dusty rose shade. Luxurious fabrics, rich embroidery in the form of blooming lilies of the valley on the hem of dresses, and unusually feminine silhouettes brought elegance back into fashion. One of the first stars in Dior to dress up Marlene Dietrich, who previously could not be imagined without men's suits. While starring in Alfred Hitchcock's 1950 Fear of the Stage, the actress insisted that all of her character's costumes be created by Dior.

A symbol of strong femininity

During the 1970s, Yves Saint Laurent introduced a hot pink color. A total bow of pink frill-fitted cropped trousers and pleated robes became a favorite of all fashionistas of the time.

However, it finally began to be perceived as a symbol of femininity in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when women made progress and entrenched themselves in high positions. During this time, the Hot pink style symbolized feminine independence, sexuality, and leadership.

In 1994, in a pink pantsuit, Hillary Clinton held her first press conference, which went down in history as the pink press conference.

In 2014, Wes Anderson's film The Grand Budapest Hotel, a film about the legendary concierge of a popular European hotel, was released. In the center of the picture is a building whose facade is painted in all shades of pink. The flamingo color chosen for the hotel resembled a gingerbread house and made a splash among the public.

An end to gender stereotypes

Nowadays, at men's shows and shows, the once-hot pink color with the stereotypical separation of "boys" from "girls" is becoming a normal phenomenon for everyone. In recent years, the menswear industry has been globally reimagined. Gucci from season to season at their shows, along with girls, released young people in rhinestones and suits from pale pink to fuchsia. Gradually, the brand was supported by other fashion houses. Remember even the British singer and famous actor Harry Styles. “Pink is the only true rock and roll color,” Styles said. His seventies-inspired powdery suit from famous tailor Edward Sexton broke the hearts of millions.
