How and when has everything started?
Everything started in a very natural and spontaneous way in 2011 when I opened my blog. At that time, I had a job in the medical sector, and my blog was my relief valve where I could share my thoughts and my passions, especially for fashion, with the readers. After a while, the first invites and cooperations arrived, and so I decided to move my blog to a more professional one that is still up today www.theworldc.com, where I write about different topics. A year has passed since the beginning of the pandemic.
Would you feel like taking stock of how fashion has changed? And how do you see the future of fashion in the short end?
The pandemic has changed and upsets everything for everyone. We in the sector were used to events, fashion shows, presentations, meetings in-person to great sociability, and the pandemic has created a real tsunami. I am a resilient person, and I try to adapt positively to a negative and traumatic condition. And fashion has done so too. After the first moment of fog, our sector also rolled up its sleeves and looked for new perspectives that often proved successful. I see the near future of fashion as bright and in the wake of making people dream again and being the star of many countries and markets. I think this clean slate was actually necessary. Of course, it came too violently, but a change in the world of fashion was necessary. Let me say that the crowd inside some shows was not correct as also the big amount of standing, because they couldn't have a good vision of the catwalk. During the presentations, the PR could not handle 20 people simultaneously, so this man that the collections couldn't be appropriately explained to everybody because the PR has not a ubiquitous gift. I went to presentations made through the appointment, and they were way much better as the PR is only for you for a certain amount of time and can properly introduce you to the collection, and the atmosphere was more relaxed and not pushed. Also, I feel it is enough to have a Spring/Summer and a Fall/Winter collection and not pre-collections or cruise collections and much more. You buy a piece, and after two months, it is already out of fashion, which is not good for the planet. The Haute Couture is correct to have an own way of displaying the collections, separated from ready-to-wear, but it isn't easy to have 4 or 6 collections for the customers. And this is something that the brands also revealed. The pressure of too many collections cannot let them focus properly. So I am sure that what is in front of us will be really better.
Did the pandemic also change the role of influencers?
Absolutely yes! Having to stay indoors to preserve oneself and others have become necessary to find a new way to interact with followers. The situation outside the walls of the house was excruciating, so I thought it is essential to give people moments of lightness. Not of stupidity but of lightness which is two well-separated concepts. I am a disaster in the kitchen, and I enjoyed trying to test myself with (basic) dishes that I shared with my followers, who may be juggled in the kitchen with my own lack of ability, and we had a lot of laughs. There was an exchange of films, books. I created a playlist on Spotify called Quarantcaro. I shared looks from home and did more live skincare, and all this helped me get to know and understand my followers more.
Has this pandemic changed you, and has it also changed your way of relating to social networks?
Another absolutely yes. The pandemic has taught me to follow my rhythms more and give voice to my thoughts without suffocating them. Sometimes we fear the judgment of others, but this doesn't seem right because people have to appreciate us for who we are. Otherwise, they would love a false mask. Always with education and respect, but you have to say your thoughts. I went back to writing the little notes that I used to keep just for myself, while maybe they can help others. I have chosen to say so many NOs to work only with brands that reflect me. It was a good test, but I'm satisfied with how I got out!
Are you working on some projects?
Yes, I'm working on several projects with different personalities that I love a lot. I will soon open my agency dedicated to talents and PR. I want to keep working to help animal organizations and environmental ones. I want to continue to write my little notes, and maybe one day, I could put them all in a book. I am also continuing my career as an influencer, and there will be some news during the upcoming months.
Is there any advice you would love to give to our readers?
To always follow the heart, to try to live a life with no regrets, as this year taught us that we are like Meteora. Do everything that makes you happy, meditate a lot to free your mind, as is the only way to really listen to your inner voice. Don't be afraid to take some NO during your journey, as the NO makes us grow. Everything happens for a reason and even if maybe something looks bad and we don't understand why that is happed to us, remember that there is a big circle behind that we don't know. Therefore, it is important that you are not too strict with yourself but rather be soft and comforting because you are doing your best. Always remember that the person you see in the mirror will be the one you really have to deal with all your life, treat them and treat yourself well. Often the wrong step takes in the right direction, and I really hope that something beautiful is about to unfold for every one of you.
