”The Little Mermaid”, an adaptation of the 1989 Disney animated film starring Halle Bailey, surpassed its rivals with the $332 million mark worldwide at the worldwide box office.
Even though the Disney production caused a lot of controversies worldwide with the portrayal of the black actress Halle Bailey as Ariel, who we know with her red hair and big blue eyes, it seems like manage to satisfy the fans of the original story with its big break at the box office. Bringing the story of one of Disney’s iconic characters back to life and directed by Rob Marshall, the latest live-action movie “The Little Mermaid” exceeded its budget at the global box office. Still, some critics argued that it could not escape the legacy of the original version since the remake movie was expected to hit $80 million in its opening weekend but still needs to reach this figure by approximately $12 million.
The Little Mermaid also became one of the highest-paid Disney live-action productions, among The Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion KingDisney’s live-action productions.
